About Gorgon City
Gorgon City is an English electronic music production duo consisting of North London-based producers Kye "Foamo" Gibbon and Matt "RackNRuin" Robson-Scott, known for their signature blend of bass-driven house music infused with emotive vocals and influences from UK garage, breakbeats, and '90s jungle and drum'n'bass. The duo first met during their time as solo artists—Kye working as Foamo and Matt as RackNRuin—and after doing a few shows together and discovering they were fans of each other's music, they decided to collaborate on a new project. In 2012, Gorgon City was born. The name "Gorgon City" itself is a nod to their urban roots and the mythical allure of their music, inspired by working with bashment samples and Ninjaman vocals, which they linked to Greek mythology to create their distinctive aesthetic.

Both Gibbon and Robson-Scott grew up immersed in UK's underground electronic scene, particularly drum and bass, which captivated them as teenagers in the late 1990s. Matt's journey began when he discovered drum'n'bass and wanted to explore all the music that was out there, eventually finding an illegal copy of FruityLoops (now FL Studio) on his mum's laptop and teaching himself production. Without computers, he's admitted he probably wouldn't have ended up making music at all, as hardware was way outside most people's price range. Kye also started messing around with computers in the early days, and both brought rich experiences and influences to the table—Kye with his deep-rooted passion for groove-laden house, and Matt with his flair for bass-driven beats. This synergy was not just a coincidence but a destined convergence of talents.

Gorgon City made their debut in February 2012 with The Crypt EP on Black Butter Records, featuring Navigator, Rubi Dan, and Janai. Black Butter had previously worked with RackNRuin to release several of his own singles and was also home to multi-platinum-selling group Rudimental. The duo's big break came in February 2013 with the release of their Real EP featuring Yasmin. The bass-oriented track "Real," made in collaboration with DJ Yasmin Shahmir, peaked at #44 on the UK Singles Chart and #7 on the UK Indie Chart, becoming a hit single in the UK and establishing Gorgon City as rising names in the scene. In May 2013, they released "Intentions" featuring Clean Bandit, further building momentum.

The turning point came on January 26, 2014, when Gorgon City released "Ready for Your Love" featuring MNEK. The song became their highest-charting single to date, entering the UK Singles Chart at #4 and earning Gold certification from BPI. This was followed by "There Is No Other Time" with Klaxons in March 2014, and then "Here for You" featuring Laura Welsh in May 2014, which entered the UK Singles Chart at #7. Their debut studio album Sirens was released on October 6, 2014, debuting at #10 on the UK Albums Chart and quickly earning Gold certification. Additional singles from the album included "Unmissable" featuring Zak Abel (#19 UK) and "Go All Night" featuring Jennifer Hudson, which nearly topped the UK dance chart. The album showcased Gorgon City's ability to combine heavy bass, memorable vocals, and smooth production with danceable grooves and pop-vocal structures.

Following the massive success of Sirens, Gibbon and Robson-Scott stayed busy with constant DJ gigs, live performances with a full band that toured the world, and high-profile collaborations. They produced Jess Glynne's single "Right Here" (July 2014), remixed Basement Jaxx's "Back 2 the Wild" (August 2014), and contributed "Blood on My Hands" to Chris Brown's 2015 EP Royalty International. In March 2015, they released a compilation album alongside Pete Tong, All Gone Pete Tong and Gorgon City Miami 2015, featuring two exclusive tracks. Over the next few years, they released a slew of singles including "Saving My Life" featuring RØMANS (2015), "All Four Walls" featuring Vaults (2016), collaborations with Wyclef Jean ("Zoom Zoom"), and their massive 2017 collaboration "Real Life" with Duke Dumont and Naations, which reached the UK Top 40.

Their second studio album Escape was released on August 10, 2018, featuring collaborations with Vaults, Duke Dumont, Naations, Kamille, Ghosted, and grime MC D Double E on the standout track "Hear That." The album continued their evolution while maintaining their signature bass-heavy sound. In 2019, they released singles "Lick Shot," "Delicious," and "Go Slow" featuring Kaskade, the latter of which topped Billboard's Dance Club Songs chart. Their third studio album Olympia was released on June 25, 2021, and was created while Robson-Scott resided in London and Gibbon lived in Chicago after marrying prominent house and techno artist Azzecca. The album fused UK and Chicago house elements, explored themes of escapism and isolation, and became the duo's third successive album to top the UK Dance chart.

In 2022, Gorgon City experienced their busiest year of touring ever, with standout releases including "Start Over" with Damian Lazarus and Leia Contois, "Foggy Geezer," and "Sidewindah" featuring Flirta D, which shot to #1 on Beatport and picked up over 100 spins on BBC Radio 1. They also delivered a massive collaboration with Sonny Fodera on "Remember" and flipped John Summit's "Where You Are." Their fourth studio album Salvation was released on July 21, 2023, via Astralwerks/Positiva, marking their first album for Positiva Records. The 10-track album featured collaborations with Julia Church ("Wreckage," "A Lot Like Heaven"), DRAMA ("Lost & Found"), NEZ ("Pose"), RAHH ("Heartless"), Jelani Blackman ("City of Angels"), Selah Sol ("Remember The Days"), and Santino Le Saint ("Gasoline"). Lead singles "Voodoo" and "Lost & Found" became massive hits, with "Voodoo" earning official BBC Radio 1 playlist adds.

Almost immediately after Salvation, Gorgon City entered a new album cycle, releasing singles "Biggest Regret" featuring Bbyafricka and "One New Change" in early 2024, both of which appeared on their fifth studio album Reverie, released in July 2024 via REALM Records and Astralwerks. The album showcased a stylistic shift toward producing "pure club music" and featured standout single "All That You Need" with its bright keys, danceable drums, and soulful hooks. Throughout 2025, they released singles including "5AM at Bagleys," "Run It Back" featuring Caroline Byrne, and a collaboration with John Summit and rhys from the sticks, "Is Everybody Having Fun?" They started 2026 with the Interplanetary Criminal collaboration "Contact," proving their creative output shows no signs of slowing.

Gorgon City's live performances have become legendary across the globe, with sold-out shows at iconic venues including Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Brooklyn Mirage, The Shrine in Los Angeles, Printworks London, KOKO London, and a 16-week residency at Amnesia Ibiza. Their festival appearances include Coachella, Tomorrowland, Lollapalooza, Creamfields UK, EDC Las Vegas, Ultra Music Festival, and countless others. In addition to their own releases, they run REALM Records, their own label and event series dedicated to championing their bass-driven house sound and supporting emerging talent. Their production process is rooted in experimentation and trust—they obsess over bass tones for days or even weeks, always starting with the bassline and finding that perfect balance of simplicity, efficacy, and originality. With influences spanning UK garage, drum'n'bass, jungle, deep house, and pop, Gorgon City continues to prove that they can rule hearts as well as dance floors, crafting melodic house anthems with deep emotion and effortless style.
