Comprised of Dylan "Party Favor" Ragland and Ricky "Nitti Gritti" Mears, SIDEPIECE burst onto the scene in 2019 and quickly became one of the most sought-after house acts in the industry with their Grammy-nominated breakout hit "On My Mind" featuring Diplo, which has amassed over 222 million Spotify streams and earned platinum and gold certifications in a dozen countries. With over 4.6 million monthly listeners on Spotify, more than 362 million global streams, and performances at iconic venues and festivals including Coachella, EDC Las Vegas, Tomorrowland, Lollapalooza, and Bonnaroo, SIDEPIECE promises an unforgettable daytime experience filled with serious sex appeal, infectious energy, and nonstop house grooves.
About SIDEPIECE
SIDEPIECE is the brainchild of Dylan Ragland (Party Favor) and Ricky Mears (Nitti Gritti), two highly esteemed producers who came together in 2019 to form what would become one of dance music's most exciting house duos. The origin story began when Ragland and Mears connected via DM in 2019 to share track ideas they felt couldn't be released under their more well-known aliases. Sensing their musical chemistry, they jumped on FaceTime for what would become a 90-minute call that changed everything. During that conversation, they shared what would become their first two records: "On My Mind," written by Mears and Diplo a year prior at a writing camp in Bali, and "Temptation," a classic-soul-sampling club-crusher written by Ragland. By the end of the call, they'd registered the @youasidepiece social handles and SIDEPIECE had been born. As they explained to Billboard, "We're just two below average guys who got together to make music we love, but don't tell our significant others. Everybody needs a SIDEPIECE."
Dylan Ragland, known professionally as Party Favor, grew up as a self-proclaimed "nerd" who got into music initially for all the wrong reasons—because it was cool. While studying at the University of Southern California, he and classmate Alex Mulé began DJing around campus under the name Party Favor. They soon got big enough to tour, but when the duo split up, Ragland kept the name Party Favor. Early to the electronic trap scene, Party Favor found support among fellow DJs and producers like Dillon Francis, Diplo, and Flosstradamus. His 2013 EP
Parkin' Lot Pimpin' launched his career, followed by the 2016 EP
Party & Destroy on Diplo's Mad Decent label, featuring collaborations with Gucci Mane, Sean Kingston, and Rich the Kid. His 2019 debut album
Layers featured guests like A$AP Ferg, Juicy J, Lil Baby, and Rich the Kid, solidifying his reputation as a versatile producer who could slide between genres on the electronic music spectrum.
Richard Cook Mears IV, known professionally as Nitti Gritti, was born on May 10, 1994, and raised in Pennsylvania before moving with his family to Haiti at the age of six, where his parents served in Christian missionary work—his father as a soccer coach and his mother as a teacher. After living in Haiti for eight years, he moved to Miami, Florida, and started his professional music career under the name Nitti Gritti in 2016 with his release "It's Nit!" His childhood in Haiti shaped his musical journey in unique ways—with limited access to mainstream American radio, he relied on internet connections and file-sharing apps like Limewire to discover music, leading him through heavy metal, emo rock, electro house, and finally dubstep, which became a clear influence in the bass-heavy sound of Nitti Gritti. He has collaborated with and worked for Enrique Iglesias, Pitbull, DJ Snake, Shaquille O'Neal, Tiësto, Diplo, and many more. In 2019, his single "200 MPH" with Diplo won a Latin Grammy as part of Bad Bunny's album
X 100PRE.
SIDEPIECE made their official debut in September 2019 with "Wanna See You," premiering exclusively on Billboard Dance and Insomniac Records' In/Rotation imprint. The bouncy house track with contagious energy from beginning to end gave off the perfect vibe for Diplo's newest label, Higher Ground. They made their live debut at Diplo's Higher Ground party at Brooklyn Mirage in September 2019, and the response was immediate. Success came fast for the pair when their second single "On My Mind" featuring Diplo was released in 2020, becoming an instant hit. The sultry earworm with its hip-swinging bassline, crispy drums, and nostalgic sing-along sample from 702 and Missy Elliott's 1996 hit "Steelo" aggregated more than 222 million Spotify streams and earned the trio a Grammy nomination for Best Dance Recording at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards in 2021. The track spent nearly 20 weeks at #1 on Beatport and became the #1 most supported dance record in the world in 2020.
Following the massive success of "On My Mind," SIDEPIECE has released a flurry of hit singles that have carved out their signature sound rooted in catchy vocals—"the most important element," says Ragland—and the ever-intoxicating bump and grind house groove. Spanning tech house, bass house, and beyond, standout tracks include "Temptation" on Higher Ground (nearly 5 million streams), "Together" on FFRR (over 11.8 million streams), "Acrobatic" on Insomniac Records (3.4 million streams), "Falling For You" on Solotoko, "Sextacy," "Who Created Love" featuring Midian, "Reborn," "Electric Bongo" (2025), "Cash Out" featuring Bobby Shmurda (2025), "Cry For You" (2025), "Take Your Places" with Westend (2025), and their most recent release "Misbehave" featuring Aluna (January 2026). They've also delivered standout remixes including John Summit's "Deep End" (over 37.6 million streams) and tracks for artists across the spectrum.
In January 2026, SIDEPIECE announced the official launch of their new label Lip Service, coinciding with the release of "Misbehave" featuring Aluna. The label aims to create a dedicated home for their own releases while supporting a new wave of club-focused artists. With the imprint, the duo is expanding their vision beyond just producing music—they're building a platform to champion the tech house and bass house sounds they love. Throughout 2026, SIDEPIECE has been touring extensively on their Horny House Tour, making stops across North America including Atlanta, Denver, Washington DC, Boston, Philadelphia, Minneapolis, Toronto, and beyond, with festival appearances scheduled at Bonnaroo Music + Arts Festival and îLESONIQ in Montreal.
SIDEPIECE's touring resume is nothing short of extraordinary, with performances at world-class festivals and venues including Coachella, EDC Las Vegas (multiple years), Ultra Music Festival Miami, Lollapalooza, Tomorrowland, Bonnaroo, HARD Summer, Brooklyn Mirage, LIV Miami, LIV Las Vegas, and countless sold-out shows across North America, Europe, and beyond. They've performed alongside and received support from virtually every major name in dance music, earning a reputation for delivering high-energy, party-starting sets that keep crowds moving from start to finish. As Ragland reflects on the project, "It started out as a fun passion project because we both love and care about house music, but it's grown so much bigger than we originally planned." The duo's ability to blend Party Favor's genre-bending EDM antics with Nitti Gritti's multi-genre production prowess has resulted in a sound that's quintessentially SIDEPIECE: party-starting club records with a pop lean and serious sex appeal. With over half a billion plays across their catalog on streaming platforms and no signs of slowing down, SIDEPIECE continues to prove that sometimes the best projects are the ones that start as a musical fling on the side.
