Event Info
Myles Tate, III is a Chicago-born pianist whose music is rooted in gospel, blues, and soul, guided by a simple philosophy: play from the soul and reach the souls listening. He began his musical journey at age six on drums in church before discovering piano and Hammond B-3 organ at twelve, quickly gravitating toward jazz. A decorated young musician, Myles earned multiple improvisation and performance honors, including first-chair jazz piano at the Illinois Music Educators Association and the Music Educators National Conference. Myles studied jazz piano at Roosevelt University and Michigan State University under Eddie Baker and Rick Roe, and continues mentorship with Fred Sanders. His career includes performances with an impressive roster of artists spanning jazz, soul, hip-hop, and R&B. Now based in Dallas since 2012, Myles leads several projects, including The Myles Tate Alliance, Soul Revival, and Experience. An accomplished educator, he is deeply committed to musicianship, believing that understanding both the "how" and the "why" is essential to artistic excellence.
